Pink pepper – from Madagascar

Pink pepper is grown in Madagascar, where the climate gives the berries their distinctive fruity and floral aroma. The red color and mild flavor make pink pepper both a flavoring and decorative type of pepper, often used in gourmet kitchens around the world.
  • Origin: Madagascar
  • Intensity: 2 out of 7
  • Aroma: Notes of coriander, burnt juniper, raspberries and strawberries
  • Flavor: Mild, with nuances of charred spruce and ripe red berries
After harvest, the pepper berries are gently dried so they retain their aroma and color. The mild heat makes pink pepper ideal as a flavor accent in fish, white meat, cheese, fruit and desserts, where it adds color and complexity.
Fun facts:
Pink pepper originally comes from South America, but was first planted on La Réunion in the Indian Ocean, where it was given the name Rose de la Réunion.

The Latin name is Schinus molle.
