Musigny is one of the most prestigious Grand Cru vineyards in Burgundy and is located in the commune of Chambolle-Musigny in the Côte de Nuits. Wines from here are considered among the most elegant and complex Pinot Noir wines in the region.
The vineyard lies on a limestone terrace overlooking Clos de Vougeot, situated between two small valleys – Combe de Chambolle and Combe d’Orveaux. The east-facing exposure and gentle slope provide optimal conditions for even ripening of the grapes.
The history of Musigny goes back a long way. As early as the Gallo-Roman era, a winegrower named Mucius owned vineyards on the slope. Later, in the Middle Ages, the monks further developed the vineyards and helped establish Musigny as one of Burgundy’s most sought-after terroirs.
The soil consists of limestone-rich brown earth with small stones and relatively little clay, producing wines with finesse, minerality, and precise structure.
The nose shows classic Pinot Noir aromas of cherry, red berries, and floral notes, often accompanied by spicy and lightly earthy nuances.
The palate is elegant and concentrated with fine acidity, silky tannins, and a long, complex finish.
