Château La Mission Haut-Brion 2000

Château La Mission Haut-Brion is one of the most prestigious estates in Bordeaux and classified as Cru Classé de Graves (1959). The château is located in the Pessac-Léognan appellation south of the city of Bordeaux and has for centuries produced wines with great depth, structure, and ageing potential.
The estate’s roots go back to the late 1500s and has since 1983 been owned by the Dillon family, who also own the neighbouring Château Haut-Brion. The vineyards are planted on deep gravel deposits, which provide ideal conditions for Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.
The 2000 vintage is one of the classic Bordeaux vintages and has developed a complex aromatic profile through ageing.
Profile
The wine appears deep ruby red in the glass with an intense aromatic character.
  • Aroma: Dark fruit, cocoa, and ripe berries
  • Notes: Cedarwood, leather, and graphite
  • Structure: Full-bodied and concentrated
  • Tannins: Firm and well-defined
  • Finish: Long and persistent
On the palate, the wine shows great concentration with dark fruit and a pronounced oak character. The good acidity lifts the wine and provides balance to the powerful tannins, which still add structure to the finish.
