Pine Cone Project – Where nature meets Danish illustration art
Pine Cone Project is a Danish design studio that combines a love of wild nature, food culture and illustration. Behind the project are the siblings Liv and Thor Andersen, who with their individual approaches create a universe of hand-painted watercolor posters inspired by edible mushrooms, fish, plants and the hidden treasures of the forest.
The company is based in North Zealand, and all motifs are inspired by Nordic nature and the modern food enthusiast’s need for aesthetics, knowledge and functionality. The posters are both informative and decorative, and function as a visual reference for those who forage – or would like to begin.

Craftsmanship and design in balance
What sets Pine Cone Project’s posters apart is the combination of classic craftsmanship and modern technique. Each illustration begins with analogue watercolor painting, where every single mushroom, fish or plant is rendered with attention to both form and character. The work is then refined digitally, so it appears razor-sharp in print – but always with the hand-painted feel intact.
The posters are printed in Denmark on Nordic Swan Ecolabelled paper with vegetable-based inks – a production with care, supporting Pine Cone Project’s vision of sustainability and quality.

The people behind
Liv Andersen is educated from the Royal Danish Academy of Architecture and has more than six years of experience with illustration and visual storytelling. Her work is characterized by attention to detail, understanding of colour and a deep respect for nature’s own forms. She has collaborated with chefs, cookbook authors, festivals and farmers, and her line is often recognized in gastronomic contexts.
Thor Andersen is a forager and the gastronomic nerd of the duo. He has a particular love for Nordic innovative cooking and has spent his whole life exploring Danish nature as a pantry. His knowledge and passion form the foundation for many of Pine Cone Project’s motifs – and ensure that the professional and culinary level is top-tier.
