Château de Cayx – Queen’s Watercolour Magnum

Château de Cayx Queen’s Watercolour is a special edition from the Danish royal family’s winery in Cahors in southwestern France. The wine is adorned with a watercolour painted by Her Majesty Queen Margrethe II, giving the bottle a unique artistic expression.
This version comes in a magnum bottle (1.5 litres) and in a presentation box with the Queen’s monogram. The combination of wine, art and royal history makes the bottle suitable as a gift or as a centrepiece for special occasions.
The wine is made from 100% Malbec from a parcel of around 7 hectares with south-facing exposure and soil consisting of clay and limestone. The vines have an average age of around 35 years, which contributes to concentration and structure in the wine.
Vinification
After green harvesting, leaves are removed manually around the grapes to ensure optimal ripeness. The grapes are harvested mechanically and sorted first mechanically and then manually on a sorting table in the cellar.
Fermentation of the must begins with a cold pre-maceration at 8°C, after which alcoholic fermentation and maceration take place in temperature-controlled steel tanks for approximately 28 days at 26–28°C. The final maceration takes place at 32–35°C.
After malolactic fermentation, the wine is aged for at least 12 months in oak barrels, of which around a third are new barriques.
