Iyoshi Cola “Craft Cola Magical Syrup”

Iyoshi Cola’s Craft Cola Magical Syrup is a concentrated, handmade syrup that turns into Japanese craft cola when mixed with sparkling water. It is produced in Tokyo from more than ten spices and citrus fruits – including kola nut – blended in secret proportions and caramelised using a method inspired by traditional Kampo medicine. The result is a natural, aromatic and balanced flavour with notes of citrus, caramel and warm spices.

The syrup can be used in several ways: classically with sparkling water for a fresh and spiced cola, mixed with milk for a rounder flavour, or in cocktails where it adds complexity. The range consists of the signature THE DREAMY FLAVOR.

The story of Iyoshi Cola begins in Shimo-Ochiai, a quiet neighbourhood in Shinjuku, Tokyo. This was once the site of a traditional Japanese medicine factory run by Ryotaro Ito. His grandson, Kola Kobayashi, travelled the world to taste and study cola – with the ambition of creating the ultimate cola that brings people joy.

When he returned home and discovered his grandfather’s old tools and documents, he realised that the same techniques could be used to make cola. By experimenting with temperatures, spices and natural ingredients, he found a completely new way to balance flavour – creating a cola with a distinct Japanese signature.

In 2018, he built his mobile stand Kawasemi-Go (The Kingfisher) and began selling his freshly made cola at the Aoyama Farmers Market in Tokyo. This marked the birth of the world’s first craft cola producer – a meeting of tradition, innovation and passion.
