Château Mouton Rothschild is one of Bordeaux’s most prestigious wine estates and was elevated to Premier Cru Classé in the historic 1855 classification in 1973. The estate is located in Pauillac in the Médoc and is known for wines with great concentration, precision, and significant aging potential.
The 2016 vintage is considered one of the most outstanding Bordeaux vintages in recent times. The combination of a wet early summer and a warm, dry late summer produced grapes with high concentration while retaining freshness. The result is a wine with great depth, structure, and balance.
In the glass, the wine appears deep ruby red. The nose opens with dark berries such as blackcurrant, black cherry, and blackberry, followed by classic Pauillac notes of graphite, violet, herbs, and cedar. With aeration, the aroma develops toward cocoa, coffee, and toasted oak notes.
The palate is concentrated and structured with ripe tannins and a clear Cabernet character. Layers of dark fruit, spices, and minerality lead to a long, persistent finish.
