Gevrey-Chambertin is located in the northern part of Côte de Nuits in Burgundy and is one of the best-known appellations for Pinot Noir. The area is internationally recognized for its powerful and structured wines, including some of the region’s most famous Grand Cru vineyards.
This Premier Cru cuvée is composed of grapes from several small Premier Cru plots in Gevrey-Chambertin. The individual plots are often too small to be vinified separately, and the blend therefore results in a wine that expresses the character of several of the appellation’s best terroirs.
The vineyards lie on soils with limestone subsoils covered by reddish-brown clay marl, which produces wines with distinct structure, minerality, and good aging potential.
Historically, wine has been grown in the area since 630 AD, when winegrowers in Gevrey began following the monks’ cultivation methods. Since then, the area has developed into one of Burgundy’s most important centers for Pinot Noir.
The nose shows classic Burgundy aromas with cherry, red berries, and floral nuances, often accompanied by lightly spicy and earthy notes.
The palate is balanced with pure fruit, fresh acidity, and fine tannins, resulting in a wine with both structure and elegance.
