Manuka honey 500+MGO, 250g

106,04

In stock

The Manuka honey comes from the Tasmanian Tea Tree, Leptosperum Scoparium.

With each production of Manuka honey, the content of methylglyoxal is measured, and the honey is then graded in strength depending on how high the content is.
The higher the content, the more exclusive the honey.
The taste is also completely intense and has notes of meadow and heather along with the fresh taste from the Tea Tree tree. It is often enjoyed as it is or used in marinades.
Explanation of MGO – UMF – TA
UMF (Unique Manuka Factor)
Was the first term that appeared in connection with Manuka honey, at a time when the understanding of its Non-Peroxide Activity was limited. All types of honey produce varying degrees of Peroxide Activity or TA (Total Activity).
In 1981, a professor at New Zealand Waikato University, Peter Molan, began researching the healing properties of Manuka honey, since Tea Tree oil (derived from the same plant) was already known to have healing properties. This research led to the discovery that there were, in fact, antibacterial properties present in Manuka honey. Thus, the brand Unique Manuka Factor was born.
MGO (Methylglyoxal)
In 2006, Professor Thomas Honle from Dresden University of Technology (Germany) discovered the true magic ingredient in Manuka honey; Methylglyoxal, or MGO, as it is now known.
Methylglyoxal contains the antibacterial agent in Manuka honey, which is why for years it has been widely used by medical professionals to help with wound healing, oral hygiene, stomach ulcers, and digestive symptoms.
UMF and MGO are both terms that have each made outstanding discoveries showing the healing properties of Manuka honey. Therefore, you will notice either UMF or MGO ratings on the packaging of Manuka honey.
TA – Total Activity

TA is a unit of measurement for both Peroxide Activity (PA) and Non-Peroxide Activity (NPA). Whereas UMF or MGO ratings refer to Methylglyoxal and are only a measurement of the NPA found in Manuka honey.
