Comtes de Champagne – A Tribute to Exclusivity and Elegance

Comtes de Champagne represents the very finest among Taittinger’s cuvées and is produced only in the most extraordinary years. Known as one of the most excellent Blanc de Blancs (100% Chardonnay) Champagnes, Comtes de Champagne stands out for its exceptional character and refinement.
The grapes for Comtes de Champagne are harvested from Taittinger’s own vineyards in the five Grand Cru communes: Avize, Chouilly, Cramant, Mesnil-sur-Oger and Oger. These unique plots, with the optimal terroir for Chardonnay, span only 20 km and form the foundation of this exclusive Champagne.
The very first vintage of Comtes de Champagne saw the light of day in 1952 (released in 1957), and since then it has stood as an icon of luxury and expertise in Champagne production.
Taste and Expression
A subtle balance and a toasted finish are achieved by allowing a small percentage (5%) of the juice to age in French oak barrels. Great Chardonnay Champagnes require time to develop their full potential. This is also why Comtes de Champagne is aged for at least 10 years in Taittinger’s deep chalk cellars before it is released.
Comtes de Champagne is soft, exotic, and an extremely pleasant tasting experience.
Serving temperature should be between 7–9°C.
About Taittinger
Taittinger, founded in 1734 and the third oldest still-existing Champagne house, carries a proud heritage of craftsmanship and tradition. With more than 288 hectares of vineyards spread across 34 villages, Taittinger is today the largest family-owned Champagne house. Pierre-Emmanuelle Taittinger, who took over management in 2005, continues the family’s commitment to producing Champagnes of the highest quality.
Famous Cellars

Taittinger’s cellars, located beneath the historic St. Nicaise monastery, date back to the 13th century. These cellars, with a capacity of around 22 million bottles, provide a unique setting for the maturation of Taittinger’s extraordinary Champagnes.
